Building A Murderer was created with bespoke 16:9 and 9:16 versions. Take your pick!
All too often, the ‘social version’ is a compromise. Stuff that looked awesome in 16:9 gets cropped (and butchered) to fit a vertical layout.
A bonus of working in 3D is the flexibility to render multiple versions of every scene. Building A Murderer was designed for landscape screens, then later adjusted and re-rendered for a bespoke 9:16 version.
And it was worth it! The ‘social version’ received literally 1000x more views! This result goes to show: it’s worth going the extra mile (and the extra render time) to create a version native to social platforms.
